Marc Wurzel

Member Biography

Mr. Wurzel has served as General Counsel since 1999, and more recently as Assistant Secretary of the Corporation.

 

Before joining GCP, Mr. Wurzel served in a variety of governmental positions including Special Counsel to the Minority Leader of the New York City Council; Chief of Staff, at theNew York City Department of Consumer Affairs and Department of Finance; and Deputy Director of Communications at the New York State Department of Law.

 

Wurzel served as executive director of the Liberty Avenue Local Development Corporation in South Richmond Hill, Queens in the mid-1980′s. Named to the post at 22, Wurzel was one of the youngest persons to ever run a successful neighborhood revitalization program in New York.

 

Wurzel has served two terms as a Commissioner on the fifteen member New York City Districting Commission responsible for redrawing the boundaries of the city’s 51 council districts. He currently also serves as the New York City Council Minority Leader’s representative to the New York State Financial Control Board for New York City.

 

Mr. Wurzel earned a B.A from George Washington University and a J.D. from Hofstra University. Wurzel is admitted to practice law in New York, and before the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern District of New York.
